If the file is stereo, click above Mute/Solo and choose Tracks Stereo Track to Mono. Set Project Rate (bottom left) to 8000 Hz. Go to File Export Audio Choose Other uncompressed files. Choose WAV (Microsoft) header. Choose “U-Law” Encoding (this sets 8-bit, and 8 kHz). Edit the file name and be sure it ends in “.wav”. Open the WAV or other format file in Audacity. Set your project “rate” to 8000 Hz (bottom left hand corner of window) If you have a stereo file then to convert to mono click the drop down menu in the track header and choose “split stereo to mono” then delete one of the 2 mono streams (see pic) Then to save your new file go File/ Export/ click “other compressed formats”,click “options” and choose “WAV (Microsoft)” as Header and “U-Law” as Encoding. • Download the Software from Audacity official site
• Install the software on your PC
• Launch the software once installed
• Go to File > Open > Locate the Audio File which you want to convert > Click on Open
• Go to File > Export Audio >
• File Name > Enter a File Name
• Save Type As > Select Other Uncompressed Files from Drop Down Menu
• Format Options > WAV (Microsoft)
• Encoding > U-Law
• Click on Save
• Edit Metadata Screen prompted, Click on OK
